Since her first novel "The Eyes of a King" hit the book shops in May, 19-year-old Cambridge author Catherine Banner has been tipped by many to become the next J.K.Rowling. With articles about Catherine appearing in the Daily Mail, Daily Telegraph, and other major newspapers across the world, Radio Addenbrooke’s was quick to take the opportunity to interview the young author.
Catherine, who wrote The Eyes of a King when she just 14 years old, visited the studios to discuss her book - a fantasy that centres around a teenage boy who finds a magical book that leads him into a parallel world. She also read an extract from the story to the Sunday night Addenbrooke’s audience.
"She was a delight to interview, and our listeners took to her immediately" commented Jim Carrington from the Sunday night broadcasting team. "Radio Addenbrooke's famously interviewed the Beatles early in their careers, and I hope that we will soon look back at our interview with Catherine with equal pride".
Catherine joins a long list of local and national celebrities to have been interviewed on Radio Addenbrooke's in recent years. Interviews can be heard every week on Bent Larsen's Wednesday afternoon show, and occasionally on other shows in the schedule.
The Eyes of a King, written by Catherine Banner and published by Random House Books, is available from most book shops and internet retailers.
An extract from the interview can be heard here.
