Radio Addenbrooke's brings Open Day to the bedside

Radio Addenbrooke’s brought the hospital’s Open Day to patients’ bedsides in a 11-hour live broadcast between 9.00am and 8.00pm on Saturday 10 May. This was the third time that inpatients have been able to get involved in the hospital's open days, which takes place once every two years.

Helen Nierinck interviews Florence NightingaleThe special broadcast included requests collected from patients on wards, competitions, interviews with staff and visitors and reports on the main attractions.

The Radio Addenbrooke’s broadcast is just one of many activities that was planned for the hospital’s Open Day. Doors opened between 10:00 and 16:00, and the whole day was free of charge. The event was opened by Dame Edna Everage.

Open Day's give the public the chance to look behind the scenes and take part in activities from visiting an operating theatre to having their favourite toy checked over in the ‘Well Teddy’ clinic.
