National Hospital Broadcasting Week

This coming week – w/c 28 March 2010 is National Hospital Broadcasting Week, and the team at Radio Addenbrooke's will be bringing request shows to patients throughout the week with a bit of difference.

Sunday evening presenter Lesley Gunn explains "Because we provide such a personal service to the patients of Addenbrooke's and Rosie Hospitals it means we get to meet our audience in person beforehand. We ask them to choose the music for the show and whist many know exactly what they'd like to hear, many of them are completely stumped by the question."

This week the shows on Radio Addenbrooke's will be featuring music selected by a range of people from the world of Entertainment.

"We've contacted some of our friends from radio, television and music and asked them what they would choose to listen to if they were in hospital. Again, some knew straight away, and some took a while to think. Cambridge-based singer/songwriter Gavin Adam Wood chose a very upbeat, happy song you can't help but smile to. Nick Rhodes from Duran Duran picked a very ‘tongue in cheek’ record as his choice, which should also raise a few smiles."
"We encourage our listeners to call in and take part in the shows, so we'll be using these choices as a cue to call the studio and win prizes throughout the week."

Patients in Addenbrooke's and Rosie Hospitals can contact Radio Addenbrooke's from their bedside phones free by dialling *3181. Friends and family can request songs for patients by calling 01223 217181.
