Addenbrooke’s hospital radio station has drawn on local support from Anglia Ruskin University in its search for a new logo.
Radio Addenbrooke’s is updating its image, following several years of growth and development which led to the coveted Hospital Radio Station of the Year award in 2004. “The station has reinvented itself over the last 10 years” explained Jim Carrington, project coordinator for Radio Addenbrooke’s. ”We wanted to reflect this by launching a new logo”.
This resulted in a collaborative project with the Cambridge School of Art at Anglia Ruskin University. As part of the coursework for their degree, six graphic design students each designed a candidate logo, one of which will be adopted by Radio Addenbrooke’s.
“This project provided an excellent opportunity for students to engage in a live project which interacted directly with the community” commented senior lecturer, Will Hill. “I’m delighted with the work they have produced and the way in which it has developed their understanding of the working relationship between the designer, the client, and the public.”
Jim Carrington is also pleased with the outcome. “We briefed the students to design a practical logo that reflected the fun, caring nature of the station, while also conveying a sense of professionalism. I am thrilled with the creativity, quality, and attention to detail shown in the results.”
The finished logos will be on display in the Clown Corridor at Addenbrooke’s Hospital between June 27th and July 13th. The public will be invited to comment on the designs, after which Radio Addenbrooke’s will select their favourite.
Launch date 12 March 2008.
