Champion Interviewer Clocks Up 300!

Legendary national hunt jockey Bob Champion joined presenter Bent Larsen in the Radio Addenbrooke's studio to become the 300th guest to be interviewed on Bent's Wednesday afternoon show.

Bob Champion with Bent Larsen and Brian WoodsBob's Grand National victory on Aldiniti in 1981, shortly after a successful fight against cancer, is one of the most memorable sporting moments in recent history. The interest and enthusiasm generated by "racing’s greatest fairytale" led to the foundation of The Bob Champion Cancer Trust in 1983, with the ultimate aim of eradicating male cancers.

Bent Larsen's producer, Brian Woods, was delighted that Bob accepted his invitation to be the show's 300th guest. "We are very grateful to Bob for visiting Radio Addenbrooke's, and telling his story to the patients. He is an inspiration to us all".

In the four years that Bent's show has been running, he has played host to well-known local and national personalities from the worlds of entertainment, sport, business, and politics, as well as leading figures from the hospital's board and staff.

"Our guests have ranged from football managers to mayors, doctors, company directors, pop stars, and even a shadow cabinet minister", explained Bent.

The "Wednesday Afternoon Tea Time Show" with Bent Larsen broadcasts most Wednesdays 15:00 - 17:00.
